We're no longer able to submit updates to Publish apps on either iOS or Android. As these platforms make regular updates of their own (notably the upcoming releases of iOS 18 and Android 15), there is a substantial chance that in the near future the performance and functionality of Publish apps could become degraded or they could stop working entirely.

It is thus critically important that any still-live Publish apps are migrated to Bolt as soon as possible.

Pugpig Publish launched in 2014 as a solution for publishers looking to easily and effectively bring their editions to apps and the web.

In 2017 we launched Pugpig Bolt, with an initial focus on frequently updating streams of content, but over time Bolt grew to include edition capabilities as well, along with a host of additional features. Pugpig Bolt has also been built with and for the latest technologies, and offers a great deal of flexibility through an intuitive, delightful UX.

With Bolt becoming able to do everything Publish does and more, we made the decision in 2022 to start moving all of our customers over to Bolt, a process which has now been completed for almost all apps.

As a result, Publish hasn't been in active development for some time, and we're no longer able to submit updates to Publish apps on either iOS or Android. The final step in this migration will be stop publishing content to Publish apps. This frees us from a fair amount of technical overhead that can better be spent furthering Bolt's position as the best platform for publishers. Only having to support one platform should also reduce complexity for your own customer support teams.

We'll ensure the final few migrations are completed ahead of this happening.

If you still have a substantial user base on a Publish app, please get in touch at support@pugpig.com, there are several ways we can help encourage these users to update, such as targeted push messaging and a prompt the user sees when opening the app.
