              Major changes

How far are users getting through your content?

              Useful for: Your analytics team

We have added a new way for you to understand how much of your content your users are reading. Our new scroll depth article event will let you know how far a user gets through each article in percentage increments. It will fire once per article if a reader passes a minimum threshold of 25%. The specific percentages are customisable but based on best practises we recommend scroll depth be tracked in the following increments: 25%, 50%, 75%, 90%, 100%.

Who's affected: All Bolt customers with article content.

What you need to do: App update to Bolt 3.21 and reach out to Pugpig support to configure the new event for you.

Hide banner ads for specific users

              Useful for: Your ads team

We have the option to hide adverts for signed in users or users who have a specific tiered subscription. Previously this only applied to in-line adverts but we have now expanded the functionality to apply to native banner adverts in articles as well.

Who's affected: All Bolt customers using Bolt's Google Ad Manager SDK and wanting more control over which users see ads.

What you need to do: App update to Bolt 3.21, then tell your tech team to add a disable_adverts = true flag to your auth response for any users who shouldn't see ads. If the flag is not there, or has any value other than true, ads will be shown as normal.

              Features from Bolt 3.20

Three Android features in our last update were marked as "Coming soon to iOS".

              • Control the visibility of individual articles
              • More control for issue-based auth
              • More intuitive edition navigation

They are now here and you can read more about them in our What's new in Bolt 3.20? post.
