              Major changes

              Third party integration updates

We regularly update our supported third party SDKs to ensure all our customers using them can get access to the latest features. In this release we've updated all of them. Check out our available third party integrations doc for more information on how we support SDKs, which ones we support and which ones we've worked with before.

              Who's affected: All Bolt customers.

What you need to do: App update to Bolt 3.19, no further action needed.

              New and improved audio tracking

We've added new events for tracking the 15 second seek back and forward buttons, and we've improved consistency for the skip backward button ensuring it tracks when used to restart the track as well as to go back to the previous one. Check out our analytics spec for all of our current events and supported dimensions.

Who's affected: All Bolt customers using audio functionality.

What you need to do: App update to Bolt 3.19 - the new events will start tracking automatically. Check our analytics spec and your already-configured dimensions to ensure you're tracking everything you want.

              Dotmetrics video tracking

Dotmetrics / Ipsos Iris is one of our recently added supported analytics providers and we have now added video tracking, including metrics such as number of plays, time elapsed, and pause and close events. So if you're using dotmetrics in your app you can better monitor user video interaction.

              Who's affected: Anybody using Bolt's Dotmetrics/Ipsos integration.

What you need to do: Get in touch with your Customer Success Manager to discuss setting up additional tracking events in your analytics.

              Background download logging

Bolt supports background download to ensure users are able to read content when they expect to, including when offline. We've now added information to our existing logging to identify if a collection was downloaded in the foreground or background. If interested you can read more about the specific offline and background behaviours in bolt.

              Who's affected: All Bolt customers.

What you need to do: No action needed.

Excluding content from native touch (Android)

Android doesn't handle horizontally scrollable content as well as iOS does. On iOS you can swipe and drag appropriate content within a timeline or page without swiping the whole page. We've now added support to make this possible on Android as well. There's still work to be done for this to happen on all appropriate content automatically, so if you're interested in this let us know and we can enable it where necessary. Note that if the content comes from externally ie puzzles, we'll need to speak to the content provider.

Who's affected: All Bolt customers with scrollable elements within timelines and content (Android app only).

What you need to do: Get in touch with support if you'd like to start exploring this for your Android app.

              Android 13 push prompt

Android added a compulsory native push prompt in Android 13, similar to what iOS has always had. We added support for this in a previous Bolt version, we now ensure that anyone updating to Android 13 while your app is installed also gets the push prompt.
