Apple allows apps to present a prompt encouraging users to rate and review the app. These both appear prominently in the App Store listing and can play a big part in users discovering and installing your app, which is why we've built this functionality right into Bolt.

This is a system-provided prompt, meaning we don't have any control over its appearance or functionality. We'll show the prompt when the following criteria have been met:

1. The app has been installed for at least 3 days
2. The user has spent more than 10 minutes reading content in your app

Once those criteria have been met, the prompt will pop up once the user next navigates to a screen, or reopens the app. 

We don't offer a way to explicitly invoke the prompt, such as from a button in the settings, for a couple of reasons:

1. Engagement with such a button is likely to be lower than proactively surfacing the prompt
2. iOS imposes a strict limit on the number of times a user can be shown the prompt, which is 3 times over a rolling 365 day period. Buttons or other mechanisms trying to invoke the prompt after that would simply do nothing.

Android

Android offers an equivalent in-app UI for reviewing or rating your apps. It's also a system-provided prompt we don't have any control over. We'll show the prompt when the following criteria have been met:

1. The app has been installed for at least 3 days
2. The user has spent more than 10 minutes reading content in your app
3. The user has not been asked to review this version already

Once those criteria have been met (upon exiting article content), the prompt should pop up. (Note: it's possible for these criteria to have been met but for the prompt to not appear if Android determines too many have been asked for, based on a mysterious quota we cannot see nor control.)
